Daniel J Brennan MGySgt USMC (Ret)

Master Gunnery Sergeant Brennan reported to Recruit Training MCRD San Diego on April 26, 1993.  He was meritoriously promoted to Private First class for duties as Squad Leader.  Upon graduation he reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA.  After graduating, PFC Brennan reported to Ft Sill, OK, for Marine Corps Field Artillery Fire Controlman’s Course, MOS 0844.

November 1993 PFC Brennan reported to Kilo Battery, 3rd Bn, 11th Mar in Twentynine Palms, CA.  During his tour here he participated in Mountain Warfare Training School, JTF mission in Corpus Christi, TX, and numerous other artillery exercises.  He was promoted up to the rank of Sergeant before receiving orders in June of 1997 to 2nd Bn, 10th Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC.

Sergeant Brennan reported to Golf Battery, 2nd Bn, 10th Marines in July of 1997.  During this tour Sergeant Brennan served as the Battery Operations Chief.  In January of 2000 the Battery was assigned to BLT 2/6 and deployed with the 24th MEU for a period of 6 months.  During this deployment the MEU conducted numerous exercises to include Operation Dynamic Mix in Kosovo and Operation Noble Shirley in Israel.  Sergeant Brennan was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on December 1st, 2000.

In January 2001 Staff Sergeant Brennan reported to Ft Sill, OK for duties as Instructor/Writer at the Marine Corps Artillery Detachment.  During this tour he was personally responsible for the training of over 200 students to include Marine Corps Field Artillery Fire Controlman’s Course and Marine Corps Artillery Operations Chief Course.  He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in March 2004.

In July of 2004 Gunnery Sergeant Brennan reported to Weapons Company 1st Bn, 1st Marines for duties as the Mortar’s Platoon Sergeant.  During his tour the Battalion deployed twice to Iraq in the support of the Global War on Terror.

In March of 2007 Gunnery Sergeant Brennan reported to 11th Marines.  His first duty there was Bn Operations Chief for 1st Bn, 11th Marines.  They deployed to Iraq in June of 2007 for duties in Al Anbar Province.  Upon return Gunnery Sergeant Brennan reported to the Artillery Training School, 11th Marines as the senior gunnery Instructor. He was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant on April 1, 2009.

In May of 2009 Master Sergeant Brennan reported to 2nd Bn, 11th Marines for duties as the Battalion Operations Chief.  In 2011 the battalion deployed to Afghanistan for 6 months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

After his tour with 2nd Bn 11th Marines Master Sergeant Brennan received orders to 2nd Bn 14th Marines in Grand Prairie, TX. In 2013 he was selected to his current rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant.

In February 2014 Master Gunnery Sergeant Brennan reported in to 11th Marines to serve as the regiment Operations Chief.  He spent the next three years in this position and received orders to 14th Marines in May 2017.  Master Gunnery Sergeant Brennan served the next 3+ years as the regiment Operations Chief of 14th Marines.

His retirement was approved and he is officially retired from the U.S. Marines after 27.5 years of active duty service.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Brennan’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal in lieu of 2nd award, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of 3rd award and the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal in lieu of 3rd award. Master Gunnery Sergeant Brennan received the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara in June 2016
